Glaze Recipe
From Springerlejoy.com - "Lebkuchen Glaze". Note - I have experimented with using liqueurs like Bailey's Irish Creme, or flavored coffee creamers, or flavored syrups instead of water and flavoring with perhaps a dash of vodka for spreadability (it evaporates out). You can make the glaze in smaller batches than this.
I glaze when the cookies are fairly warm but not super hot. If applied to the front, it may obscure detail, but add interest. It can be applied to the back to leave detail unobscured, but add flavor.
2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons water
½ teaspoon flavoring (vanilla, orange oil, lemon oil, etc)
Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients and mix until well combined and smooth. Add more water if necessary. Brush glaze on each cookie after baking.
